I have been writing PHP long enough to have built my own framework, and then to have decided to leave it.

These posts cover that arc. Why building a website platform from scratch made sense at the time, why Knowledge ERP is now migrating onto Laravel and Filament instead, and the habit that has outlasted every framework I have used: start with the process someone actually follows, not with the feature list.

None of this is a framework recommendation. It is what the tradeoffs looked like from inside a codebase I had to keep running while I changed it.
